Sin

The Lord has been dealing with sin in my life lately. In stuff I read, messages I hear, that nagging voice in my heart. As Christians our desire should be to be like Christ. Christ was sinless. Even when He faced temptation, He did not sin. Yet, we even though we have Jesus on our side choose to sin.

The sins that the Lord has been cleaning out in my life aren’t major in the eyes of men. Some could even be said well it’s okay cause you deserve to be that way. But to God, they’re sin. I’ll be honest. What’s been on the chopping block?

Pride. Pride is like those little bugs you find in your dry food goods. You open a box of rice and little bugs come out. You weren’t expecting them but there they are and your food is ruined. Pride damages not only you, but those around you.

Laziness. This has been a big one for me. It most often gets blamed on, “I’m just so exhausted.” “I’m so unmotivated.” Proverbs 6:6 says, “Go to the ant you sluggard consider her ways, and be wise.” You don’t see ants portrayed as lazy. They are hard workers. Ants can carry 10-50 times their body weight. They get the job done. Yet we have a difficult time putting away laundry. Doing a job we’re being paid to do. Putting dirty dishes in the sink. All because we think we deserve a break. Because we’re tired.

Discontentedness. This can be an easy one to hide. We don’t talk about it but our hearts are elsewhere. Of course having our hearts elsewhere isn’t necessarily a bad thing. If we don’t take the opportunity to examine other options then we miss out on a lot. But when our hearts are wholly discontented all the time it’s sin.

So where does this leave me?  Asking for a change of heart.  Thanking God for the forgiveness that He has given me.  Because of the sacrifice He made I can resist the temptation of Satan to sin.

Wow. It's Quiet Here...
