My Platform & Women Who Influence It

A few weeks ago Shawn and I were having a conversation about what I wanted my platform for my blog to be.  I’d been thinking about this because of this blog post by Anne Jackson of FlowerDust.net and the following question that was asked by Kyle Reed:

“Why is the Christian Blogosphere dominated by Males?  Seeing that you, Crystal (Renaud), and a couple of other ladies are the only ones that consistently blog about things beside their children, food, and scrap booking, why is there so few?”

This was Anne’s response:

“I would like to think that it’s because they’re actually out there doing something rather than playing on the internets all day :) Joan Ball who blogs at Belief Net is great too. And click through some of the women on here — you’ll find some hidden gems.”

It got me thinking.  What do I want to be – in a sense – promoting about myself.

We don’t have any children and I don’t scrapbook so that takes care of that, but we do plan to have a family someday and there is absolutely nothing wrong with blogging about your children and scrapbooking.

Towards the end of our conversation I said I’d like my blog to be a happy medium.  A balance of what is passionate in my heart according to the Gospel and our family.  I said like Brandi Wilson.  She blogs about her family but also about her church, Compassion, and the things of God.

I’ve learned a lot from some remarkable women bloggers over the last year about life, my Christian walk, being a wife, and one day being a mother.  Here are some of them, check them out if you haven’t.

Brandi Wilson @brandiandboys

Heather Whittaker @whittakerwoman

Alece Ronzino @gritandglory

Anne Jackson @flowerdust

Lauren Chandler @laurenchandler

Who are women bloggers you follow and those who have influenced your life and how you blog?  I’d love to meet some others.
