This morning I was lying in bed trying to stay there as long as I could and still have time to get ready for work. I thought of an old family friend who used to be a mountain biker/bike shop owner. He’s now a pastor. I thought it funny that this bike shop owner is now the pastor of a church. Then I stopped and realized that God has used fishermen, a Christian persecutor/murderer to further the Gospel and His Kingdom. And that isn’t event he half of it. He used a sheep herder. A boy with big dreams who was unwanted by his brothers. Even a potter in the life of Jeremiah to show him how the House of Israel is in His hand.

The differences in these people is obvious. They came from different circles, different socio-economic statuses. Yet they all have one thing in common. They were all willing to do what God called them to.

So how does this apply to your life? To mine? We are all different, but we each have a call on our life from God. It may be to be a pastor of a church or to be a missionary in a foreign country or to be the supportive friend to a Non-Christian who is going through a difficult time. God uses us in various ways to accomplish His will. It isn’t always going to be lime-light front and center. But we need to be willing to go. Willing to do what He has called us to.

This has been difficult in someways for me. Back in March my husband and I helped start a church plant. It became abundantly clear that with a small group everyone was going to have to step up. I’m not a extroverted person. The idea of going up and talking to someone I don’t know scares me to death. It makes my skin crawl and makes my wanna throw up. I’m still overcoming this. My desire though is to be an effective disciple for God. To go where He calls and do what He asks. I know that He will give me the strength to overcome the personality that He has given me.
