A May Hello

I honestly can’t believe it is May 03rd, and we are literally on the cusp of summer.  This is a busy month for us.

  • Mother’s Day (I was a little taken aback that it is this coming Sunday I thought for sure I had another week.  Will be buying gifts this week.:-/)
  • Birthdays – THREE!  My Brother, one of my three sister’s in law, and one of my six nephews.  I ended up putting all my nephew’s & my niece’s birthdays with years in Evernote because the only one I can remember how old he is is my oldest nephew because he was born the year after we got married. [edit: and apparently i've forgotten my brother's birthday in my old age.]
  • Anniversary!!!!  Shawn and I celebrate 10 years of marriage.  If it’s hard to believe that it’s already May o3rd, the fact that we’ve been married 10 years (together 14) is mind blowing.  Besides Jesus, he is the best thing to ever happen to me.
  • Anniversary trip.  We always try to go out of town for our anniversary.  We have a couple places in mind we just need to work out the logistics (money) aspect and make a decision.
  • Plus I still need to share about our trip to Austin.  Please — let me know when life slows down.
  • Shawn and I are praying over some things in our lives and God’s leading in them.  I appreciate your prayers too.

I hope you all are doing well.

So tell me what has been going on in your life?
Are you planning anything fun for over the summer?

Passion Week & 2nd Chances

This week is Holy Week.  The days leading up to the arrest and crucifixion of Jesus.

My life seems to have gotten greatly complicated and taking time to revel in the death & resurrection of Jesus is something little done.

My hope this week is that we would take moments to dwell on what this weekend represents.  To step outside of the drama filled family dinners & the hunt for brightly colored eggs and step into the meaning of why we celebrate the death and resurrection of the one who created us.

This week I have two guest posters sharing stories of second chance living.  I’ll be back on Friday with an Elements of Grace post.

Until then have a marvelous week

(oh PS:  I crossed off #4 of my Before40 list.  I’ll be sharing about that hopefully next week.)

Zeus Braves the Vet

Zeus Vet VisitOn Saturday night we had a scare.  Shawn and I went out on a date and got home around 8 PM.  We relaxed the rest of the evening, but noticed that our little boy Chihuahua, Zeus, would cry and yelp for no apparent reason. He’d try to stand up and cry or would just be laying still and cry.

We assumed it was his back legs because he’d walk a few steps then sit down.  We thought at length if we should take him to the 24-hour animal hospital, but chose to wait and take him to our vet which just happens to be open on Sundays in the morning, due to that he would be going in his crate and would be sleeping for the next eight hours or so.

Neither Shawn or I got much sleep that night.  Shawn was up sick and I tossed and turned worried about Zeus.  We took him to the vet in the morning and the doctor has diagnosed that our little guy has a probable herniated disk in his neck.  And tested him for Valley Fever.  So we’re giving him a pain med and cortisone twice a day.

I learned one thing throughout this whole experience.  If God so chooses to ever bless Shawn and I with children, Shawn will be the balance to my freaking out.  He is extremely level-headed.  I’m certain there will be times when he freaks out but he will definitely be the balance.
